Find Licensing Information for Your Property
Use your property's council area to find the relevant licensing information. A property licence and a Landlord Gas Safety Record serve different purposes: the licence concerns permission and conditions for letting, while the record documents the gas safety check. Regulation 36 of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 requires annual safety checks of landlord-provided gas appliances and flues.
Start with your authority page for local context. A licensing exemption does not remove gas safety duties. For the wider explanation, read London property licensing and gas safety.
